Deepika Padukone-backed emotional wellness establishment gets 'Breaking the Chains of Stigma' Award, $50K money prize

Founded by the 'Piku' actress in 2015, the non-profit organisation received the award for its efforts to change the dialogue around mental illness in India. The foundation, that was selected from among a global list of nominees by the world’s leading mental health researchers and academicians, will also get $50,000 cash prize to expand the scope of its work.

The award is an initiative of the Dr Guislain Museum in Ghent, Belgium, and Janssen Research and Development. The Dr Guslain Award highlights an individual, project or organisation that has made an exceptional contribution to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. In India, around 57 million individuals are influenced by sorrow. As per general therapeutic diary The Lancet, one out of five Indians will experience the ill effects of melancholy during their lifetime. What's more, Padukone feels that this honor approves the establishment's work towards making mindfulness about dysfunctional behavior. More
